The Board of Nurse Examiners has proposed amendments to delete obsolete portions of rules pertaining to Practice and Procedure. The proposed amendments were reviewed by the Board's Eligibility and Disciplinary Task Force on July 13, 2007, and the Board and task force recommended approval. The Texas Board of Nurse Examiners has proposed to amend §211.6 and §211.7 of the 22 Texas Administrative Code to implement §301.1595 of the Texas Occupations Code, as applicable to the committees' make-up. The Austin American Statesman is reporting that thousands of Texans are waiting for licenses and license renewals from the Department of State Health Services. The agency suffered a flood from a broken pipe in one of its offices. Doubtless, you've all heard the news about Vioxx and Celebrex and the allegation that those drugs increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Now an Alzheimer's Prevention Study is being halted because Aleve, one of the medications they are using in the study, contains naproxen, the same ingredient contained in Celebrex.
