According to the HHS Website, The Texas Health and Human Services Commission executive commissioner will appoint members to the E-Health Advisory committee to serve a two-year term. Applications are due by 5 p.m. June 26. This position is specific for those interested in health information technology, health information exchange systems, telemedicine, telehealth and home telemonitoring services.

The e-Health Advisory Committee was created under Texas Government Code, Section 531.012 to advise the HHS system on strategic planning, policy, rules and services related to the use of health information technology, health information exchange systems, telemedicine, telehealth and home telemonitoring services. The committee will seek input from the health information technology, telemedicine and telemonitoring communities on issues and recommendations listed in the committee’s annual report. The committee must produce formal recommendations to HHS on how to implement health information technology, health information and health information exchange in support of HHS services and public health. The committee will include key stakeholders as determined by the HHS executive commissioner. The committee is seeking representatives of each of the following:
- An expert on telemedicine
- A representative of a managed care organization
- A representative of the pharmaceutical industry
- An expert in the implementation of electronic health records, computerized clinical support systems and health information exchange systems for exchanging clinical and other types of health information
