Deadline Approaching to Update All Intellectual Disability/Related Conditions Assessments to Comply With the International Classification of Disease Transition
The deadline for updating an individual’s Intellectual Disability/ Related Conditions Assessment (ID/RC) with International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) diagnostic codes is September 30, 2016. Information describing the requirement for these changes and instructions for making these changes is outlined in the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) Information Letters (IL) No. 15-43 and 15-36. These codes are used to report medical diagnoses and inpatient procedures through the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standard transactions. CLASS Direct Service Agencies (DSAs), ICF/IID and DBMD program providers, and LIDDAs are required to update an individual’s ID/RC using ICD-10 codes upon submission into the Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) provider portal, in accordance with an individual’s annual effective date. DADS encourages DSAs, program providers and LIDDAs to be proactive in obtaining an individual’s ICD-10 diagnosis codes. A DSA, program provider, or LIDDA who does not submit an individual’s ID/RC in accordance with DADS instructions may delay renewal of an individual’s ID/RC; and therefore, could jeopardize an individual’s eligibility for the CLASS, DBMD, and ICF/IID Programs.
