DADS issued a Provider Letter to remind ICF/IID, HCS and TxHmL providers (including registered nurses (RNs) and LVNs) who are participating in the LVN On- call Pilot Program about the program’s requirements.
DADS and the Texas BON are conducting a pilot program to evaluate LVNs providing on-call services by telephone to individuals receiving services in the HCS or TxHmL programs or in an ICF/IID with a capacity of 13 or fewer beds. SB 1857 requires DADS and the BON to collect data to evaluate the efficacy of the pilot program.
Providers participating in the pilot program signed an agreement to comply with the requirements of the
program. Nurses signed an agreement to comply with the pilot program operational protocol. As part of its evaluation of the pilot program, DADS will review a random sample of documentation regarding the provision of nursing services by telephone by LVNs.
