Information Letter No. 14-34 REVISED
Children and Young Adults Receiving Services in the Medically Dependent Children Program voluntarily enrolled in the STAR program in the Medicaid Rural Service Areas will be Transferred Back to Fee-For-Service
This information letter is revised to clarify that it is applicable to children and young adults who are in the Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP) and who voluntarily enrolled in the STAR program in the Medicaid Rural Service Areas (MRSAs). It does not apply to children and young adults receiving MDCP who are enrolled in the STAR Health program.
Effective September 1, 2014, children and young adults who are in the Medically Dependent Children Program (MDCP), voluntarily enrolled in the STAR program, and served in Medicaid Rural Service Areas (MRSAs) will be transferred back to fee-for-service Medicaid.
After September 1, 2014, providers will no longer request prior approval for acute care services from the Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Any prior approvals needed for durable medical equipment or other acute care services will need to go through Texas Medicaid and Healthcare Partnership (TMHP). All claims for services after September 1, 2014, will be submitted to and processed through TMHP.
