DADS issued an information letter and several news alerts.
CWP providers and CDS agencies:
DADS CSPO Section and MR Authorities Section will begin testing new utilization review processes for the CWP, with full implementation scheduled for January 1, 2011, effective the date of this letter.
1. Effective December 20, 2010, CWP HCSSAs must send Form 8578, Mental Retardation/Related Condition Assessment, Form 8662, Related Conditions Eligibility Screening Instrument (for individuals with LOC VIII), and any other supporting documentation (e.g., Inventory for Client and Agency Planning booklet) to CWP prior authorization nurses in Region 8. Please fax these documents to the attention of “CWP Prior Authorization Nurse” at (210) 438-6274.
2. The HCS Workforce Advisory Council’s final report is now available, which presents 15 recommendations for improving the recruitment, retention and training of direct support workers in Texas. See the report here.
3. DADS has been directed to evaluate programs and to reduce spending, and effective immediately, DADS instructs Myers and Stauffer (and subcontractors) not to incur additional expenses and to cease all project activities for the Nursing Home Incentive Payment Program project until further notice.
4. DADS posted a recording of the October 22 webinar, “Protecting Through Partnerships.”
