DADS sent a 12-page letter with recommendations for infection control and prevention in long term care facilities to nursing and assisted living facilities and ICF/MRs. Among the recommendations are (Letter):
An active, effective, facility-wide infection control program should be established. The purpose of the program is to help prevent the development and spread of infectious diseases (Category IC).
…
Oversight of the infection control program should be defined and should include participation of the ICP, administration, nursing staff, and physician staff (Category II).
…
One person, the ICP, should be assigned the responsibility of directing infection control activities in the facility. The ICP should be someone familiar with facility resident care problems (Category IC).
DBMD providers will be expected to provide services in all of the counties within a given DADS region, effective September 1. A map of counties can be found here, and you may download the letter here.
DADS reminded ICF/MR providers of WebCARE screen 573, made available to providers as a tool to monitor compliance with the Review of Living Options (RLO). Providers may enter their component code or contract number to generate a list of residents with past due RLO or those due within 90 days. (Letter)
