The Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) released one provider and two information letters:
- License Renewal Late Fee
DADS reminded Adult Day Care Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Home and Community Support Services Agencies, Intermediate Care Facilities for Persons With Mental Retardation or a Related Condition, and Nursing Facilities (NF) licensees that license renewal applications received by DADS within the 45-day time period before license expiration are subject to a late fee equal to one-half of the basic license renewal fee. - Medical Necessity and Level LOC (MN and LOC) Changes
DADS notified Community Service Waiver providers of changes that affect the MN and LOC assessment. For instance, the Long Term Care Online Portal will no longer accept any MN and LOC Assessment with a RUG of BC1 into the workflow. Download the two-page letter for details.
- Billing Process for Customized Power Wheelchairs (CPWC)
DADS issued a letter to NF providers with responses to the most frequently asked questions NFs have about the process to follow for reimbursement through the Texas Medicaid program for a CPWC for an eligible Medicaid resident. An excerpt:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How long after a request for prior authorization of a CPWC is submitted to TMHP before the NF receives a response?
A request for prior authorization of a CPWC will be processed and a determination made by TMHP within three to five business days of the receipt of a complete application. An application is only considered complete if all portions of every section have been completed by the provider(s). The information requested in sections A, B, D, and E is crucial and must be completed in full. Additionally, the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) supplier must provide the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Pricing (MSRP) sheets in the submission.
