The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) issued six information and two provider letters:
- Nursing Facility (NF) Quality Review Process for 2009
In a letter to NF providers, DADS informed them that it’s conducting annual Nursing Qualify Facility Quality Review evaluations of resident care in nursing facilities, the same process conducted for the past seven years as mandated by the Texas Legislature. Download the letter for details.
- Authorization of Items/Services Through Transition Assistance Providers
DADS reminded Transition Assistance Services providers that they may obtain items/services only for which the provider has received authorization from DADS on Form 8604, Transition Assistance Services Assessment and Authorization. For more information, download the letter.
- Economic Stimulus Single Payment
DADS informed all DADS service providers that a one-time economic recovery payment of $250 will be paid to qualifying adults (age 18 and older) who are eligible for benefits from one of several Federal benefit programs: Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Veteran Administration, and Railroad Retirement benefits. - Provider Screening of Employees, Subcontractors for Excluded Persons
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued State Medicaid Director Letter #09-001 reminding states to direct providers of Medicaid reimbursed services to screen employees and subcontractors employees for excluded persons. DADS advised NF and Intermediate Care Facility for Persons with Mental Retardation Providers to review a six-page attachment dated January 16, 2009, with special attention to the directions at the top of page four. - Lift chairs in Community Based Alternatives (CBA)
In a letter to CBA providers, DADS clarified and simplified procedures for obtaining lift chairs for CBA consumers. Download the letter for details.

- Surveyor Review of Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal History Reports Retrieved from the DPS Secure Website (Replaces PL 08-19)
