Public Hearing
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will hold a public hearing on January 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. to receive public comment on the proposed interim per diem Medicaid reimbursement rate for small, state-operated Intermediate Care Facilities for Persons with Mental Retardation operated by DADS. The hearing will be held in the Piney Woods Conference Room of the Health and Human Services Commission, Braker Center, Building H, located at 11209 Metric Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Proposed Rules
The Texas Medical Board has proposed to amend several sections of the code: Supervision Of Medical School Students, Postgraduate Training Permits, Temporary and Limited Licenses, Fees, Penalties And Forms, and Compliance Program. HHSC has proposed to repeal Chapter 357, Subchapters A and D – H and proposed a new Chapter 357, Subchapter A. Among other things, the proposal will repeal the existing sets of fair hearing rules and propose new rules that provide a clearer picture of the rules that govern client appeals at HHSC, and conform to commission practice and fulfill the purpose intended by Government Code §531.0055. Adopted Rules
On behalf of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, HHSC adopted amendments to several sections of the code: Nursing Facility Requirements For Licensure And Medicaid Certification, Intermediate Care Facilities For Persons With Mental Retardation Or Related Conditions, Licensing Standards For Assisted Living Facilities, Licensing Standards For Home And Community Support Services Agencies, Adult Day Care And Day Activity, and Health Services Requirements.

HHSC also adopted an amendment to §355.509, Reimbursement Methodology for Residential Care, under Title 1, Part 15, Chapter 355, Subchapter E, which establishes the reimbursement methodology for the Residential Care program. See the relevant section of the Texas Register for more information.
