The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) issued two information letters and two memos from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC):
- Change in the DAHS and CBA Provider Manuals Relating to Physicians with a Special Purpose License
In a letter to Day Activity and Health Services (DAHS), Community Based Alternatives (CBA), and Integrated Care Management (ICM) Waiver Services providers, DADS notified them of a correction to the DAHS provider manual under Section 5212, Prior Approval Process for Caseworker Referrals, Physician’s Orders, and CBA/ICM providers of a correction to the CBA provider manual under Section 4456, Physician’s Orders.
Although the sections state that doctors from outside Texas can practice in the state under a special purpose license, Texas does not recognize such a license. Manuals will be changed to correct the error. Download the letter for details.
- Consumer Directed Service (CDS) Codes
In a letter to Deaf Blind with Multiple Disabilities providers and Consumer Directed Service Agencies, DADS says it will implement the new CDS respite service codes, effective February 1, 2009. From the letter:
In-home respite will be authorized by the new service code 11PV on the Individual Service Plan (ISP). Out-of-home respite will be authorized by service code 11AV. These services will continue to be on the ISP under a separate section labeled “CDS services.â€
