— Person-centered Thinking Two-day Training Sessions for Local Authorities, HSC, TxHmL, ICF/IID, CLASS, and DBMD providers in Kilgore, Denton, El Paso, and Waco. See the news alert page for dates, times, and locations.
— The MDS 3.0 PPS Assessment Calculator has been updated from version 1.0 to version 1.1. The only change:
Warning: If a late COT [Change of Therapy] is completed following an intervening MDS assessment, do not enter the late COT anywhere in the PPS [Prospective Payment System] Assessment Calculator because it will throw off calculations. Reason: When a late COT follows an intervening MDS assessment, the intervening MDS assessment is what determines the date of the next COT evaluation. For example, a 5-day is done on day 5, a COT is missed on day 12, and a 14-day is done on day 14. A late COT on day 15 would not reset when the next COT is due because there is an intervening 14-day PPS MDS assessment. The next COT evaluation would be due on day 21.
— On a January 15, 2013, national conference call, CMS staff reiterated that MDS 3.0 item A0410 must be coded correctly. Coding instructions on page A-9 of the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual.
